Bruno Fernandes on the ‘problem’ awaiting Varane & Man United’s new signings

Active member
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has, on Thursday, opened up on what he feels is set to prove the first challenge awaiting the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane at the club.

Big-money moves

Transfer dealings have of course taken centre stage at Old Trafford to this point in the summer.

This comes with those in a position of power on the red half of Manchester having finally begun to round out Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad with the kind of top tier talent which should culminate in a prolonged push for silverware over the years to come.

First up was a long-awaited swoop for Jadon Sancho.

After what felt like a lifetime of negotiations between the clubs, United finally confirmed that a deal for English international Sancho had been struck with Borussia Dortmund on the 23rd of July:

John Murtough and co., though, appear far from ready to rest on their laurels.

As confirmed by Real Madrid last week, Sancho is set to be imminently joined at the Theatre of Dreams by another high-profile name, in the form of World Cup winner Raphael Varane:

‘Always difficult’

In turn, during an interview with the club’s official website earlier today, it came as little surprise when one of Manchester United’s current stars was drawn on what he feels could prove to be the key challenges awaiting the latest additions to Solskjaer’s squad.

The player in question, Bruno Fernandes, of course made the move to England in January of 2020, taking to the rigours of Premier League football like a duck to water.

With such a swift adaptation period something of a rarity, though, the Portuguese was on Thursday quick to highlight the ‘problem’ facing Sancho and Varane, who will be afforded little time to acclimatise to their new surroundings in Manchester, on the back of the pair’s respective endeavours at this summer’s European Championships.

Interviewer: ‘You know what it’s like to join mid-season. Will it be easier for the new signings to settle in now?’

Fernandes: ‘That’s the problem because they will arrive almost at the same time I did in terms of I trained two days and played straightaway! I think it’s always difficult to change country and change club, it doesn’t matter when you come.’

? Recharging ?
? Pre-season ?
? The new campaign ?
