In an interview with Blic, Krajinovic said the 20-time Grand Slam champion is committed to recapturing the Davis Cup for Serbia.

“Novak is with us, so we are surely not going there to lose,” Krajinovic told Blic. “We made an agreement to play, all of us, we are eager to get that trophy.”

Viktor Troicki, one of Novak’s best friends, is Serbian Davis Cup captain. Djokovic, who withdrew from Indian Wells, has not played since Daniil Medvedev denied his calendar Grand Slam dream upsetting the top seed in the US Open final.

The Davis Cup finals are set for November 25 through December 5th in three European cities: Madrid, Innsbruck and Turin.

Madrid will host the Davis Cup semifinals and finals as the Spanish capital did last year.

Back in 2010, Djokovic and buddy Troicki led Serbia to its maiden Davis Cup championship with a dramatic 3-2 win over France in an electric final played in Djokovic’s hometown of Belgrade.

After Djokovic swept Gael Monfils to level that 2010 final, Troicki topped Michael Llodra in the decisive match to clinch a 3-2 comeback conquest and send the Belgrade faithful into a frenzy.

A decade after Djokovic and Troicki lifted Serbia to its first Davis Cup championship, the childhood buddies joined forces again leading Serbia to the inaugural ATP Cup championship in 2020. Djokovic topped world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in singles to level the final then Djokovic and Troicki defeated Pablo Carreno Busta and Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-4 in the decisive doubles propelling Serbia to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Spain in a stirring final in Sydney.
