Man United reportedly opened contract talks with Dean Henderson last week

Post by Floyd »

An update regarding the contract situation of Manchester United’s Dean Henderson has emerged over the last 24 hours. Sheffield United standout Henderson, now 23, has been plying his trade with Sheffield United for the last two campaigns. After impressing during their promotion-winning 2018/19 season, the Blades once again secured Henderson’s services on loan for the current campaign. And despite the step up in quality, the Man United youth has continued to shine for the Yorkshire-based club. In total, the shot-stopper has conceded just 25 goals in 28 league outings this term. However, such stellar displays have also led to speculation over Henderson’s future. The Sheffield United loanee has clearly proven that he is good enough to be a Premier League mainstay. But with David de Gea tied down to a lucrative long-term contract at Manchester United, it is hard to see Henderson ousting the Spaniard anytime soon. And after getting a real taste for regular first-team football at Sheffield United, one would imagine that Henderson isn’t overly eager to play second fiddle to de Gea. As a result, the Sheffield United standout has been linked with moves to both Chelsea and PSG this term. However, despite such speculation, United are seemingly keen to maintain Henderson’s services for the long term. According to the Sun, Man United opened talks with Henderson regarding a contract extension last week. The report also highlights Chelsea’s interest in the goalkeeper, though, adding that the Blues could offer as much as £50m to land Henderson
