Jurgen Klopp vows to rotate his team against Crystal Palace after two new injuries vs Everton

Post by Floyd »

Everton 0 – Liverpool 0 Liverpool were saved by the upright in the 82nd minute at Goodison Park; Tom Davies hit the post as Everton came incredibly close to beating their city rivals for the first time in years. In the end, Sunday’s Merseyside derby ended in a 0-0 draw. That means Liverpool have extended their unbeaten run against Everton to 22 games in all competitions.

Liverpool suffer two new injuries vs Everton Jurgen Klopp was forced into a couple of changes in the Everton game. In the first half, James Milner, who was deputising at left-back for the absent Andy Robertson, pulled up. Milner was replaced by Joe Gomez. Later in the game, Reds centre-half Joel Matip was also forced off with an injury. Dejan Lovren came on as a sub. Klopp provided the following update on Milner and Matip after the Everton game: Millie felt a hamstring a little bit, but we had this in the past. Millie is not often injured and hopefully it is not serious. He is smart enough to show up in the moment when he feels it, so hopefully it was the right moment. Maybe not Wednesday [he will be available for], but after that I would hope for. Joel was unlucky and we had to make a quick decision. It was a situation with Richarlison and he bent or stretched or his big toe. I don’t think a lot of people have had that; it is really painful, but hopefully it settles, the pain settles and then we will see. I hope nothing serious has happened, but I don’t know yet. If Man City fail to beat Burnley on Monday, Liverpool can be crowned Premier League champions if they beat the Eagles. It appears certain that the Liverpool XI which faces Palace will be different to the team which started against the Toffees. After Everton, Klopp said: We are ready now to involve fresh legs on Wednesday which is good.   Mohamed Salah & Andy Robertson After rumours popped up last week suggesting that Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson could miss the Everton game, that’s exactly what happened on Sunday. Salah was named on the bench, however Klopp opted to rest his Egyptian in the derby. As for Robertson, he was left out the squad completely. On Liverpool’s website, it was confirmed that Salah and Robertson missed the Everton game due to “minor knocks”. However, Klopp believes the duo can play in midweek: Some players couldn’t train in the last week – they trained, but not with the team – like Mo and Robbo, but yesterday they were in training and both looked really good. That’s why Mo is in the squad, Robbo not yet but on Wednesday [he will be] again. For Robbo, it was better to have a proper session today and then be in for Wednesday, and for Mo it is the right thing to do it like this. Klopp expects Salah and Robertson to be fully fit for the visit of Crystal Palace on Wednesday. “Yesterday they were in training and both looked really good. That’s why Mo is in the squad, Robbo not yet but on Wednesday [he will be] again.”https://t.co/bLOaQxQKLO pic.twitter.com/3yIKJ83wer — James Carroll (@James_Carroll84) June 21, 2020   Watch Jurgen Klopp’s presser after Everton
