Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi reportedly on verge of €40m+ Inter Milan switch

Post by Floyd »

Word stemming from the European media this evening suggests that Inter Milan are closing on a shock deal for Real Madrid youngster Achraf Hakimi. Dortmund stint Versatile right-back Hakimi is a product of Real’s youth system. After struggling for game-time behind Dani Carvajal during his debut campaign as part of Zinedine Zidane’s senior squad at the Bernabeu, though, it was subsequently decided in the summer of 2018 that a loan spell away from the Spanish capital would best aid Hakimi’s development. This saw Borussia Dortmund step forward, with a surprise two-year loan deal having been agreed between the European heavyweights. The seasons since, meanwhile, have seen Hakimi go on to establish himself as an integral member of BVB’s XI. To this point in the current campaign, the Moroccan international has appeared in all but one of Dortmund’s outings in the Bundesliga, as well as all of the club’s Champions League fixtures. And, though Hakimi still has a lot to learn from a defensive standpoint, his production in attacking areas has long been of the highest standard. Across 40 league and European appearances this season, the 21-year-old has racked up 9 goals and 10 assists. This comes with Hakimi having also showcased his impressive versatility throughout his spell in Germany, with the youngster capable of lining out in either a defensive or midfield position along both flanks. As such, the leaps forward taken by their gifted starlet over the last 12 months in particular had unsurprisingly led to speculation that Real Madrid were ready to hand Hakimi the chance to showcase his talents as part of the club’s first-team setup next season. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano even recently went as far as to claim that Los Blancos have prepared a new 5-year contract for the north African. Amid reports that some of European football’s other heavyweights have begun sniffing around his signature, though, Hakimi himself recently appeared to cast doubt over his return to the Bernabeu. After the likes of Chelsea, Juventus and PSG were named as keen admirers of his talents, the versatile stopper explained: ‘In June I will have to make a decision and it will be a great step for my career. In theory, my contract ends in June and from there I have to return to Madrid.’ ‘I have not yet had contact with Madrid on this matter, but I imagine that soon we will have some conversation to find out what is best for me.’ And, if the latest word stemming from Italy this evening is to be believed, then Hakimi’s decision appears to have been made. The Moroccan’s future, meanwhile, looks set to lie far away from the Spanish capital. As per Fabrizio Romano, Serie A giants Inter Milan are closing on an agreement with Real Madrid, which will see Hakimi make the move to Italy this summer: Inter are in advanced talks to sign Achraf Hakimi. He wants to leave Real Madrid to be a starter – Inter have contacted Real and the player has accepted to listen their bid. He’s the first target as right back for Antonio Conte. ⚫️🔵 @SkySport #Inter #transfers — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 26, 2020 In fact, Romano goes as far as to claim that a €40 million+ transfer is now ‘really, really close’ to being finalised, with Hakimi himself having already committed to a 5-year contract with Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri: Achraf Hakimi is really, really close to Inter. The agreement is going to be finalized soon between Inter and Real Madrid for €40M + add ons. Hakimi has already accepted to sign a five year contract with Inter. 🔵🇲🇦 #transfers @SkySportsNews — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 26, 2020
