After being dropped vs Watford, Tammy Abraham tells Chelsea he wants a new contract with a pay-rise

Post by Floyd »

Tammy Abraham was dropped vs Watford Will Tammy Abraham be back in Chelsea’s line-up when the Blues travel to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night? Last weekend, Chelsea beat Watford 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard opted to leave Abraham on the bench against the Hornets, while Olivier Giroud started instead. Giroud rewarded his manager by scoring the opener. Abraham, who has scored 15 goals for Chelsea this season, has failed to hit the target in his past ten games.

Tammy Abraham tells Chelsea he wants a new contract with a pay-rise Yet, despite being dropped and his recent goalscoring drought, Tammy Abraham is trying to agree a new and improved deal with Chelsea. 22-year-old Abraham is under contract with the Pensioners until 2022. However, Times reporter Gary Jacob has today revealed that the striker wants a new contract which includes a pay-rise: Tammy Abraham has told Chelsea that he wants a new deal worth £130,000 a week to match that of Callum Hudson-Odoi, his fellow academy graduate. The England forward has two years left on his £50,000-a-week deal and has been waiting to see what Chelsea do in the transfer market this summer before determining his future.    Will Chelsea agree to Tammy Abraham’s demands? That’s presently unclear. It’s also unclear what will happen if Chelsea say ‘no’. Would Abraham hand in a transfer request? However, when the topic of Abraham’s contract was brought up in Frank Lampard’s press conference on Monday before the Crystal Palace game, Chelsea’s manager tried to allay fears that these talks are a distraction for his attacker: I think Tammy’s contract… we are not at a critical level with it. I will leave it with him and the club to discuss that side of it. I don’t think it is something that is clearly in his mind now, at least it shouldn’t be. What needs to be in his mind now is these games we have coming up and how much he can give us on the pitch, whether coming on as a sub or starting the game. I think the contract will hopefully look after itself between him and the club and he just needs to focus on giving us that Tammy that we had earlier in the season.   Watch Frank Lampard’s press conference before Crystal Palace
